Position Statement

Friends Community School, a Quaker school grounded in Progressive Education, sits on a charming 22 acres in College Park, MD. The School draws from over a dozen zip codes and is fully enrolled.  The next Head of School will join a three decades old community that is one of three Quaker schools serving the Metro DC area. Hallmarks of the school include: significant diversity in the student body and faculty; stewardship of the environment; solid financial footing; and a talented, dedicated faculty and administrative team.  As the intellectual, interpersonal, and administrative leader for FCS, the Head is responsible for modeling the school’s values and managing all aspects of the school, including the academic program, operations, and financial health, as well as external relations and fundraising. The next Head will work closely with the Board to fully develop and implement the school’s strategic plan and campus master plan.
