Friends Community School (FCS), founded in 1986, is a progressive, co-ed Quaker K-8 day school serving a diverse student body from the greater Washington, D.C. area. FCS’s LEED-certified building is situated on 17 acres surrounded by Greenbelt National Park, nine minutes from the University of Maryland, College Park, and thirty minutes from Washington, D.C.

Job Summary
FCS seeks a 40 hour/week advancement associate. The qualified candidate supports the Director of Advancement in keeping families informed, engaged, and committed to the school and its financial support. S/he is involved in all programming, including fundraising, relationship building, program development, volunteer management, and actively involving all constituents in the school community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Director of Advancement on fundraising and community-raising strategies
- Use Blackbaud Raiser's Edge to process all gifts, maintain donor relationships, actions, and appeals, and generate pledge reminders, queries, and reports
- Generate thank you letters, email, and other communication
- Process donations and gifts
- Assist with the planning of fundraising and other community events such as the Spring Auction and Grandfriends Day.
- Organize and maintain digital media archives
- Provide logistical support for school fundraising or cultivation events and meetings, including producing media and donor kits, maintaining guest lists, and gathering and preparing registration materials
- Other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency and experience with Raiser’s Edge, Microsoft Word, and Excel
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to organize, prioritize and follow-through on assignments
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a collegial, good humored manner
- Ability to be discreet and to maintain confidentiality
- Familiarity with ResearchPoint, Google Apps for Education, Photo editing and related skills (preferred)
- Experience in a non-profit school
- Knowledge of Quakerism
- Must pass criminal background investigation
