What is Advancement at Friends Community School?
The Advancement Department's mission is to enhance the educational experience at FCS through active engagement, strategic fundraising, and effective communication. We are dedicated to building meaningful relationships with alumni, parents, friends, and community partners to support the school's goals and vision.
What do we do?
Fundraising Initiatives
Our fundraising efforts include campaigns for annual giving, solicitation of leadership gifts, encouraging planned giving, and special events. These initiatives provide critical support for enrichment programs, professional development, facilities, financial aid funding, and special projects such as new playground equipment, outdoor classroom space, and native plantings on campus.

Alumni Engagement
We aim to keep our alumni connected through reunions, newsletters, social media, and special events. Our goal is to foster a lifelong relationship between our alumni, their families, and Friends Community School.

Community Relations
Strengthening relationships in our community is essential to our success. Building on that we continue to reach out to a wider circle of parents and friends, local businesses, and community leaders. A key component of our mandate is bringing our community together to highlight the achievements of our students and faculty. The Advancement department organizes and supports events and programs that nurture this critical relationship-building in support of FCS.

FCS Advancement Event- GrandFriend's Day

On GrandFriends Day, visiting GrandFriends are asked to write letters to their former selves, sharing the wisdom and perspective that comes with life experience. 

Located in College Park, MD, Friends Community School is a progressive Quaker K-8 day school, founded on the belief that every child is a valued member of our community.
